Double interview where Rocío Martinavarro from branding studio Mayúscula, interviews Israeli designer Liron Lavi Turkenich and designer/illustrator Jane Bowyer from Manchester, talking about matters like co-creation, cultural identity, women empowerment, sustainability, creativity, and more!
The word ‘connection’ written in Aravrit sits within a composition of natural and human illustrated elements. As human activity encroaches on the natural world the spaces occupied by wildlife and humans increasingly crosses-over. An indifference to the connections between human activity and its negative impact on the environment is already changing the way we live. As we have experienced in 2020, this undermines the balance of our ecosystems leading to pandemics, extreme weather, rising sea levels, and permanent changes to landscapes. It is predicted that by 2050 hundreds of millions of climate refugees will be moving across borders, on a permanent or temporary basis.
It is no longer just an environmental issue; it is a political, economical, educational, and societal issue. This is something that requires each of us to challenge and question our choices and think about the world we want to leave for future generations.
